140. The Weekend Reset That Actually Works (Even If You’re a Hot Mess)

Some weeks, we feel on top of everything. Other weeks, we blink and suddenly it’s Sunday night, our laundry is still in a pile, the fridge is full of random ingredients that don’t make a meal, and we’re heading into Monday feeling completely unprepared. That’s exactly why this week’s episode felt so timely for us!
We sat down for a real conversation about what a weekend reset actually looks like in our lives. Not the perfect, color-coded, Pinterest version. The real version. The one where we’re doing our best to prep for the week ahead while also balancing work, life, health goals, social commitments, and the occasional need to just lay in bed and do absolutely nothing for a little while.
And honestly? We’ve realized that resetting for the week isn’t about being perfect. It’s about creating enough structure that we don’t feel like we’re drowning by Tuesday.

Why We’re Talking About Weekend Resets
Lately, life has felt extra full. Between running our businesses, attending networking events, trying to stay on top of content, and now making more intentional choices around our health, we’ve both felt the need for a better system. We’ve learned that when we don’t prepare ahead of time, the week tends to run us instead of the other way around.
That’s where the weekend reset comes in. For us, it’s become less about doing everything and more about asking: What can we do now that will make this week feel smoother, calmer, and more manageable?
That might mean syncing schedules. It might mean meal planning. It might mean doing laundry, putting dishes away, washing our hair, cleaning up our spaces, or simply taking time to mentally reset before another busy week begins.
Resetting Together, Not Just Individually
One thing we talked about in this episode is how important it’s been for us to start planning together.
Because our lives are so intertwined, we’ve realized that resetting individually is not enough. We need to sit down and look at the week as a team. We check who has what meetings, what networking events are coming up, who’s covering what, and where we need to be aligned. It sounds simple, but it makes a huge difference.
If you have a business partner, spouse, accountability buddy, or really anyone whose schedule affects yours, this kind of check-in can be a game changer.
Even if you don’t have that person, the same principle still applies. A reset is really just a meeting with yourself. It’s a chance to look ahead and make intentional decisions before the week starts flying.
Planning Our Health Instead of “Trying to Fit It In”
Another huge part of our current reset routine has been getting serious about our health.
We’ve both been trying to be more intentional about movement, workouts, and building healthier routines — and one thing that helped immediately was actually putting those plans in the calendar. Instead of vaguely saying we want to work out this week, we’re deciding which days, what time, and what we’re doing.
That accountability has been huge.
We also talked a lot about food and meal prep, because this is one of those areas where a little planning saves so much stress. When we go into the grocery store without a plan, we either buy too much, buy random things that don’t go together, or forget what we already have at home. So lately, we’ve been trying to map out meals ahead of time, pull recipe ideas from TikTok or Pinterest, and make grocery lists based on what we’ll actually use.
It doesn’t have to be elaborate. Even a loose plan helps!
The Reset Is Also About Your Space
Something else we both see over and over again is how much your environment affects how you feel going into the week.
There’s just something about starting Monday in a messy space that makes everything feel heavier. So part of the weekend reset for us is getting our homes into a better place — not necessarily deep cleaning every single week, but doing enough that things feel calmer and more functional.
That can look like catching up on laundry, unloading the dishwasher, putting things away, or just tidying the spaces that tend to collect clutter during the week. It’s not about making your house look perfect. It’s about making your space work for you!
Rest Still Counts
We also wanted to make space in this conversation for something that often gets left out of productivity talk: rest is part of the reset too.
Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is take a nap, play a video game, journal, or give ourselves a little breathing room. There are seasons where our brains and bodies need more restoration than hustle. And if we ignore that, we usually end up paying for it later.
So yes, planning matters. Prepping matters. But rest matters too. The real reset is about figuring out what you need to feel more supported heading into the week ahead.
Our Biggest Takeaway
At the end of this episode, we kept coming back to the same two words:
planning and prepping.
That’s really what a weekend reset comes down to. Not perfection. Not doing the most. Not becoming a brand new person by Monday morning. Just planning ahead enough and prepping enough that your future self feels taken care of.
And if you’re still figuring out what your reset looks like, you are absolutely not alone. We are right there with you, testing things, adjusting, and trying to create routines that support the lives we’re building.
